Apple iPad mini (2024) now available worldwide, AI features coming this month
The new Apple iPad mini (2024), announced last week, is now available in retail stores. The new tablet offers 128 GB of storage for 599 euros / 500 US dollars, twice as much as its predecessor. This applies to the Wi-Fi-only model, but there is also a Wi-Fi + Cellular version available for 769 euros / 650 US dollars. If you need more storage, you can also upgrade to 256 GB or 512 GB.
The most important upgrade of the Apple iPad mini (2024) is the A17 Pro chipset, which is already known from the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max. However, Apple has given the chip a few downgrades. Along with the additional RAM of now 8 GB, the new mini also runs the Apple Intelligence features.
Apple Intelligence will be released shortly as a software update. iPadOS 18.1 will bring the first features later this month, with more features to be added in the coming months. But here comes the big but: Apple Intelligence will initially only be available in US English. And accordingly, the new feature is essentially only aimed at users in the USA.
The new Apple tablet also has faster connectivity. It supports Wi-Fi 6E (ax) instead of Wi-Fi 6 like its predecessor.
