Samsung Galaxy Book 5 Pro 360 with Intel Core 7 Ultra Series 2 is here
Just before the start of IFA 2024, Samsung introduced the first new addition to the Galaxy Book 5 series. It’s a thin, light, AI-focused laptop with a beautiful OLED display, all-day battery life, and brand new Intel processors. A Snapdragon version of the Samsung Galaxy Book 5 Pro 360 is also planned, but today it’s all about the Intel Core Ultra Series 2 CPUs. They bring 47 TOPS of NPU performance, qualifying for Microsoft’s AI assistant Copilot+.
The Samsung Galaxy Book 5 Pro 360 is a convertible laptop with a 16-inch OLED touchscreen with S Pen support. The hinge allows a display rotation of 360 degrees, turning it into a Windows tablet. Speaking of which: The screen is a 2,880 x 1,800 pixel panel with a 120 Hz refresh rate and an anti-reflective coating. You also get an S Pen in the standard sales package.
The notebook is also relatively light for a 16-inch device at 1.69 kg (3.73 lbs) and only 12.8 mm thick (0.5 inches). Nevertheless, there is a fairly large 76 Wh battery that charges via a 65 watt USB-C adapter. The battery should last up to 25 hours of video playback. The Samsung Galaxy Book 5 Pro delivers 360 Dolby Atmos sound to accompany the videos via four speakers – two 5 watt woofers and two 3.3 watt tweeters.
Currently, there only seems to be one version that uses the Intel Core Ultra 7 256V with an Intel Arc 140V GPU (8 GB). The GPU promises a 17% performance increase compared to its predecessor. There’s 16GB of built-in LPDDR5X RAM and you can choose between 512GB and 1TB of NVMe SSD storage. This should be removable, but there’s only one slot.
The Samsung Galaxy Book 5 Pro 360 also has an HDMI 2.1 port with up to 8K at 60fps or 5K at 120fps. There are also two Thunderbolt 4 ports, a USB-A 3.2 and a headphone/microphone combo jack, as well as Wi-Fi 7 (be, 2×2) and Bluetooth 5.4.
More than 300 AI features in over 100 apps
The laptop comes with Windows 11 Home and numerous AI features. These include “Circle to Search,” “Chat Assist,” “Live Translate,” and “Transcript Assist.” Samsung touts “more than 300 AI-accelerated experiences in over 100 apps for creativity, productivity, gaming and entertainment.”
The Galaxy Book 5 Pro 360 is already available for pre-order. First deliveries start later this month in the US, Canada, UK, France, Germany and other markets. The 512GB variant costs £1,700 (€2,017) and the 1TB version costs £1,900 (€2,254). Other prices are not yet known.
