Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition with 200 MP main camera
Samsung is preparing a Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition that is supposed to be significantly thinner than the regular Galaxy Z Fold6. The special edition will also have a better camera, as tipster Evan Blass just revealed. The new sensor has a resolution of 200 megapixels.
We assume that the sensor is the recently introduced Samsung ISOCELL HP9. The chip is not quite on the level of the ISOCELL HP2 in the Galaxy S24 Ultra. However, it still has the Tetra Pixel technology, in which 16 individual 0.56 μm pixels are combined to form a superpixel. The sensor area is also not to be sniffed at at 1/1.4 inches.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition should have a foldable 8-inch main display, a 6.5-inch cover display and a thickness of 10.6 mm when folded. There are still question marks over the chipset and battery technology and capacity. In fact, the Fold6 only charges with the usual 25 watts for Samsung. Even the 45 watts of the Ultra models didn’t make it into the foldable flagship. However, the Special Edition should easily jump over the 2,000 euro barrier, if not the 2,500 euro threshold. And then at the latest, Samsung will have to move significantly up in terms of charging rates.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition will compete with the Honor Magic V3 and the Xiaomi Mix Fold 4. Unfortunately, rumors have persisted so far that the Samsung smartphone will only be launched in Korea and China. We will find out in September or October at the latest whether Samsung is really skipping the global market.
