Xiaomi Zhuque – buttonless smartphone coming next year

The Xiaomi Zhuque apparently does not have any buttons at all and instead relies on gesture control and pressure-sensitive edges.

Xiaomi is reportedly working on a buttonless smartphone that will launch in the first half of next year. It is apparently codenamed Xiaomi Zhuque and its standout feature will obviously be the complete lack of any buttons.

Unfortunately, the source of this information doesn’t really know what will replace the buttons, so it could be a combination of gesture controls, pressure-sensitive edges, or voice commands. The Xiaomi Zhuque will also feature an under-display selfie camera, which will hopefully be better than Samsung’s efforts in this area in the form of the Galaxy Z Fold5 and Galaxy Z Fold6, among others.

The upcoming Snapdragon 8+ Gen 4 chipset will power the Zhuque (and the Xiaomi 15S Pro). The 15S Pro is expected to launch between April and June 2025. The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 4 is likely to be the update version of the 8 Gen 4 as usual. It will launch half a year after the start of the base version in October this year.

As for the Xiaomi Zhuque, we will have to wait and see whether it will be a success or more of a niche demo product. The latter goes for the Meizu Zero. The Zero is also based on a buttonless concept and can be seen in the video above. Unfortunately, it never caught on.
