Apple iPhone Fold and iPad Fold / Mac hybrid to launch in 2026
Apple is still bringing a lot of new products to market between now and 2024. Analysts and supply chain observers are instead focusing even further into the future. According to a new report, 2026 will be a special year for the company. According to it, Apple plans to launch two different foldable devices in 2026: an iPhone Fold and a foldable iPad/Mac hybrid device.
Rumors about Apple’s entry into the foldable device market have been around for years. Recently, however, the reports have become more concrete. At the end of July, news came that the panel supply contract for the first Apple iPhone Fold had been signed. The device would have a flip-foldable design, similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 or the Motorola Razr 50 und Razr 50 Ultra. The launch is therefore planned for the end of 2026, just in time for the Christmas season.
In addition, there is also a hybrid device in development – an Apple iPad Fold or MacBook Fold. Thanks to the folding mechanism, the device would have a diagonal of 18.8 inches when unfolded.
A new report from analyst Jeff Pu now suggests that both devices are likely to hit the market in 2026. According to the research report, Pu expects the foldable iPad/Mac hybrid to hit the market first. It is currently scheduled for release in the second quarter of 2026. The foldable iPhone, Pu said, will follow in late 2026.
The report does not provide any other new details about the two devices other than the expected timeframes. Of course, a lot can change by 2026. But if these timelines are accurate, Apple will be making radical changes to its product line in a short period of time.
It is understandable why the iPad/Mac hybrid would debut with Apple’s first foldable display. Although the iPads and MacBooks are hugely successful, the iPhone’s sales far exceed those of any other Apple product. So, launching an Apple iPad Fold or MacBook Fold on a smaller scale would be less of a risk.
