Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra: Camera software explained
Samsung has released an infographic about the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s quad camera system. The data is processed in the so-called ProVisual Engine, which brings together all camera data. It starts with the improved night photography in the telephoto range. The S24 Ultra’s new 5x zoom camera has a sensor twice as large and 60% larger 1.4μm pixels than the old 10x image sensor on the Galaxy S23 Ultra and S22 Ultra.
Additionally, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra’s telephoto camera has a wider stabilization angle, meaning the optical image stabilization is more powerful. The new 5x camera’s AI-enabled Image Signal Processor (ISP) features a 42% faster Neural Processing Unit (NPU) and the zoom shutter release has become 30% faster.
Then there is the new generative editing. This uses the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra’s powerful AI to straighten, reduce and retouch to fill in the gaps.
Expert RAW now features a new 24-megapixel mode on the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra that merges high-resolution 50-megapixel images with 12-megapixel multi-image captures. The AI Fusion 24 megapixel shots also feature HDR. However, this is not Ultra HDR, which brightens the highlights in the gallery and Google Photos. The photos can then be exported as JPEG, RAW or both.
You can also use AI to adjust the angle and perspective of a photo even after it has been taken. This allows the AI to edit a photo in a way that it was taken from below, from above or from the front to make the image highlight what you want.
