Nothing Phone (2a) with Dimensity 7200 Pro and Glyph design

The Nothing Phone (2a) is here and offers much of the technology of the Nothing Phone (2) at a cheaper price. The unusual design is based on Nothing’s first internal smartphone design concept from 2020. It comes from just a few months after Nothing’s launch.

The key aspect of the design is the dual camera system located inside the NFC coil. Nothing calls it “the eyes”. The back of the Nothing Phone (2a) wraps around the edges at a 90 degree angle, making the device more resistant to drops. Of course, there is also Nothing’s iconic Glyph interface with 26 individually controllable zones. The three lights support Glyph Timer, Notifications, Glyph Torch and Glyph Progress.

The Nothing Phone (2a) uses a Dimensity 7200 Pro chipset co-developed with MediaTek. The processor is manufactured using TSMC’s latest 4nm process and clocks at up to 2.8 GHz. There is also a 6.78-inch 10-bit AMOLED display with a resolution of 1,084 x 2,412 pixels, a peak brightness of 1,300 nits and a variable refresh rate of 30 to 120 Hz. The operating system is Nothing OS 2.5 based on Android 14. You get 3 years of Android updates and 4 years of security updates.
There are also three cameras on board – two 50 megapixel cameras on the back and the well-known 32 megapixel selfie camera. The latter has an aperture of f/2.2 and a 1/2.74 inch sensor, just like the Nothing Phone (2). The main cameras are a 50-megapixel wide camera with f/1.88 aperture, a 1/1.56-inch sensor and OIS, and a second 50-megapixel ultra-wide cam with f/2.2 aperture, a 1/2 2.76 inch sensor and a fixed focus.
The 5,000 mAh battery charges to 50% in 23 minutes and to 100% in 59 minutes with 45 watts. According to Nothing, the battery retains 90% of its capacity after 1,000 charge cycles or more than three years of daily use.
