Xiaomi 14 Pro Titanium Edition with satellite communication is here
The Xiaomi 14 Pro was rumored to have satellite connectivity, but the models launched in China in November did not have it. This is because the function is limited to the titanium-clad special edition. This model is now available on Xiaomi’s online store in China, priced at CNY 7,000 (€899/$973) with 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. For comparison, the regular 16GB/1TB model costs CNY 6,000 (€771/$834). Even the base model of the Xiaomi 14 Ultra costs CNY 6,500 (€835/$903), while the titanium variant of it costs CNY 8,800 (€1,130/$1,223).
Bi-directional satellite connectivity is available outside of carriers’ usual network coverage in the event of an emergency. The system communicates via China’s Tiantong satellites. Xiaomi has not changed its mind and the Pro model will not be available outside of China. This does not apply to the Xiaomi 14 Ultra, which will be widely available and also has satellite communication on board. However, whether a mobile operator outside of China will support this is another question. Both Xiaomi phones are based on the Xiaomi Pengpai T1 chip. Xiaomi even posted a demo video of the 14 Ultra setting up a satellite call in the South China Sea.
As for the material of the Xiaomi 14 Pro Titanium Edition, the company says it uses 99% pure aerospace-grade titanium and high-strength aluminum alloy for the midframe. In addition, Xiaomi Dragon Crystal Glass protects the front and back of the phone. You can recognize it by the orange edge marking around the camera.
Same hardware, different frame
This camera is the same module of three 50 megapixel cameras as the regular Pro. In short, a 1/1.31-inch main sensor with OIS and a variable f/1.4-f/4.0 aperture, a 3.2x-75mm telephoto lens and a 115-degree ultra-wide-angle lens with autofocus.
The Xiaomi 14 Pro Titanium Edition has a 6.73-inch 12-bit LTPO display with QHD+ resolution and 120 Hz. The front camera has a resolution of 32 megapixels. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset together with a 4,880 mAh battery that charges with 120 watts via cable and 50 watts wirelessly.
