The last time we reported in detail about the various Apple iPhone 16 camera designs was nine days ago. New information from tipster Majin Bu has now appeared on X. Although this user has a mixed track record, he has also had a few hits on the design of upcoming iPhones. His latest post could well be our first look at a real iPhone 16.

In his post, Bu shared an image of the camera housing for the base model Apple iPhone 16 with a vertical camera arrangement. The authenticity of the component design pictured above has now been confirmed by additional industry sources. Accordingly, Bu’s contribution is about the main camera housing for the I-34 camera project. This exact project is intended for use in the upcoming iPhone 16, which is scheduled to hit the market later this year.

Additionally, the leak is consistent with several other reports about the new vertical camera layout that Apple has planned for the iPhone 16. Back in December we reported on early iPhone 16 prototypes and various internal designs. The vertical camera layout was also a central component in this, in contrast to the current diagonal layout of the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus. By using a vertical camera module, Apple can also bring spatial video recording to the basic iPhones.

In addition to the vertical camera layout, the Apple iPhone 16 is also expected to adopt the action button from the iPhone 15 Pro. There is also an additional capture button with force sensor technology on the right side of the phone.
