Xiaomi 14 Ultra: New lenses, same camera design

The Xiaomi 14 Ultra is expected to hit the market soon. Today a new leak sheds some light on the cover glass of the camera island, which shows that only the sensors will be new. The overall design will be the same as the Xiaomi 13 Ultra. According to the image, the main camera will have a brighter f/1.6 aperture, while the periscope telephoto lens will bring an f/2.5 aperture. As usual with Xiaomi flagship phones, the cameras are again developed together with Leica.

Xiaomi actually loves to change the design of its flagships from one generation to the next. And since the Ultra has been part of the portfolio, we have yet to see a design repeat. This means that either the leak of the Xiaomi 14 Ultra is not real or the Chinese were very happy with the work they did last year. Perhaps they simply don’t want to fix what isn’t broken. Or, even simpler, use a working design and save development costs.
If this is really the case, we expect a Sony LYT-900 sensor with variable aperture for the main camera, as previously reported. However, as usual with the Ultras, there is one big uncertainty – will the Xiaomi 14 Ultra be available worldwide? Or will Xiaomi disappoint fans of the brand for another year and only sell the new top smartphone in China? That was already the case with the Xiaomi 12S Ultra.
