Cheap Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Lite planned?
According to a new rumor from its home market of South Korea, Samsung is currently considering releasing a cheaper version of the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold6. According to the source, the considerations for a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 Lite are still completely new, but are based on an obvious reason. The Fold line sells significantly worse than the Flip series. Considering the very high price for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5, it’s actually no surprise.
This step would apparently help Samsung gain a foothold with its foldables in the Chinese market, which has so far been dominated by local providers. However, Samsung still has a double-digit foldable phone market share in China. However, the value is significantly higher than for normal smartphones, where Samsung only has around 1% market share. There are hardly any rumors about the Galaxy Z Fold6 Lite itself. Apparently one concept is to leave out the outside display or at least make it smaller.
A cheaper Galaxy Z Fold6 Lite would also bring more movement to the global market for foldable smartphones, which Samsung currently leads. On the other hand, the introduction of such a device would significantly reduce Samsung’s profitability, at least in this segment.
Additionally, the company appears to expect that with an impending economic downturn, demand will focus on higher quality, more expensive products. That actually sounds illogical. But anyone who had a lot of money before a recession still has a larger budget afterwards than average earners.
