Honor Magic6 series with up to 1TB storage and 180MP periscope
Honor’s flagship smartphones for 2024 are all about setting new standards when it comes to hardware. The Honor Magic6 and Magic6 Pro feature Qualcomm’s fastest chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, LTPO OLED displays and three powerful main cameras. The Pro version also brings a new periscope telephoto camera with a resolution of no less than 180 megapixels.
Honor Magic6 Pro
The Honor Magic6 and Magic6 Pro are based on 6.8-inch curved LTPO AMOLED displays with a resolution of 1,264 x 2,800 pixels and a variable refresh rate from 1 to 120 Hz. Honor states a peak brightness of 1,800 nits in automatic mode and up to 5,000 Nits local peak brightness for HDR content. Both displays also feature ultra-high frequency PWM dimming at 4,320 Hz and a 50-megapixel front camera with an f/2.0 aperture. The Honor Magic6 Pro also has a 3D depth sensor for face unlock on board.
On the back is the redesigned camera module with the 50 megapixel main camera. The Pro has a variable f/1.4-f/2.0 aperture, while the base model has a fixed f/1.9 aperture. As if that wasn’t enough, there’s also a new periscope telephoto lens with a resolution of 180 megapixels on the Pro. The optical zoom is a factor of 2.5, while digital magnification of up to 100x is possible. The third camera covers the ultra wide range and also has a resolution of 50 megapixels.
Honor Magic6
The normal Honor Magic6 instead has to make do with a 32 megapixel telephoto lens with 2.5x optical and 50x digital zoom. The 50 megapixel ultra-wide camera is identical. Both Honor smartphones run on the new MagicOS 8.0 based on Android 14.
The Honor Magic6 has a battery capacity of 5,450 mAh and charges via cable with 66 watts and wirelessly with 50 watts using Honor’s proprietary wireless charger. The Pro variant has a battery capacity of 5,600 mAh and charges via cable with 80 watts and wireless with 66 watts.
The connectivity is also at a high level with Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.3, and the Magic6 Pro also offers satellite connectivity in China. You also get an infrared transmitter for controlling household appliances and dust and water protection according to the IP68 standard.
The Honor Magic6 and Magic6 Pro are available in black, green, blue, purple and white. Prices in China start at CNY 4,399 (€564/$620) for the Magic6 with 12/256GB and end at CNY 6,699 (€859/$943) for the Magic6 Pro with 16GB RAM and 1TB Storage. Open sales in China begin on January 18th, with international pricing and availability to be announced at a later date.
