Samsung launches rugged Galaxy XCover7 and Tab Active5 tablet
Currently, all eyes are on Samsung’s Galaxy S24 flagships, which will be released later this month. It was therefore a great surprise when the company came up with two new robust devices out of nowhere today. The Samsung Galaxy XCover7 and the Galaxy Tab Active5 are here. The Duo comes out of the box with Android 14, 5G connectivity, NFC for cashless payments, Samsung Knox Vault for data protection and a programmable button for quick access in harsh conditions.
Samsung Galaxy XCover7
The Samsung Galaxy XCover7 is based on a 6.6-inch LCD display with Full HD+ resolution. But it is not a normal panel. The screen has increased touch sensitivity for working with gloves up to 2mm thick and in wet environments. As usual with Samsung, the chipset is not revealed. All we know is that the 6nm processor has eight CPU cores.
The only camera on the back of the Samsung Galaxy XCover7 has a 50 megapixel sensor, while the selfie camera takes 5 megapixel photos. The RAM is 6 GB and the storage is 128 GB, but can be expanded using microSD cards. Other highlights include the 3.5mm headphone jack and Dolby Atmos sound.
The main selling point of the Galaxy XCover7 is its durability, which is confirmed by an IP68 certification and the MIL-STD-810H standard. The display is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus+, while the 4,050 mAh battery is removable. The Samsung cell phone also has a mode in which you can use it without a battery when the USB connection is active.
Samsung Galaxy Tab Active5
The Samsung Galaxy Tab Active5 has an 8-inch LCD display with a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. The new Samsung tablet also has increased touch sensitivity. There is a 13 megapixel camera on the back and a 5 megapixel camera on the front. The chipset is also unknown, but is based on a 5 Nm process.
There are two storage combinations – 6/128GB or 8/256GB, both with a microSD slot for up to 1TB more. The IP68-certified tablet also supports Samsung’s S Pen, which comes in a separate protective case. The Samsung Galaxy Tab Active5 is also MIL-STD-810H0 certified to withstand extreme altitude, humidity, submersion, salt spray, dust, vibration and drops. However, the tablet’s panel only has the slightly older Gorilla Glass 5.
There are physical buttons on the bottom bezel and the home button has an integrated fingerprint sensor. The battery has a capacity of 5,050 mAh and can also be removed for use on the charger. The Samsung Galaxy XCover7 and Galaxy Tab Active5 are launching later this month. Samsung has yet to announce the prices.
