Realme GT5 Pro with 5,400 mAh battery and periscope camera is here
The Realme GT5 Pro was officially launched in China today. After many years, Realme is finally bringing a real flagship smartphone onto the market that shares more than just a few components with the OnePlus 12. Inside is the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor with 12 or 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256 GB, 512 GB or 1 TB of UFS 4.0 storage. A 12,000 mm2 vapor chamber ensures appropriate cooling.
At the front, the Realme GT5 Pro has a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with 2,780 x 1,264 pixels. The maximum refresh rate is 144 Hz, the touch sampling rate is 2,160 Hz and the maximum brightness is an extremely high 4,500 nits. The entire panel can reach up to 1,000 nits with manual control and 1,600 nits with automatic brightness. It also includes the fingerprint sensor. As with the OnePlus 12, there is a large 5,400 mAh battery on board that charges with 100 watts via cable and 50 watts wirelessly.
The main camera is also identical to the one on the OnePlus phone. But the other two sensors on the back are different. The main camera uses the new 50-megapixel 1/1.4-inch Sony LYT-808 sensor with a 23mm f/1.69 lens. The periscope zoom camera has a 1/1.56-inch IMX890 chip, a 65mm f/2.6 lens and also 50 megapixels. Finally, there’s an 8-megapixel f/2.2 fixed-focus ultra-wide camera with a 1/4.0-inch sensor.
The GT5 Pro also features air gestures, which we last saw on the Samsung Galaxy S5. For example, you can unlock your cell phone with the palm of your hand. Realme says the method is just as secure as face unlock, but not as secure as biometrics. Finally, the Realme GT5 Pro features Dolby Atmos stereo speakers, an advanced linear vibration motor and is IP64 certified for complete dust and splash protection.
Realme GT5 Pro prices
The Realme GT5 Pro is available in Red Rock and Bright Moon colors with a vegan leather back. The Starry Night version has a textured glass surface. Pre-orders are already open and will begin shipping on December 14th. As a bonus, Realme bundles a pair of Realme Buds Classic Edition 2 and offers 100 CNY (€13/$15/INR1,200) as credit for other purchases from the online store in China.
Taking the discount into account, the 12/256GB Realme phone costs CNY 3,298 (€430/$464/INR 38,680), the 16/256GB model costs CNY 3,598 (€470/$504/INR 42,260) and the 16/ 512GB model CNY 3,898 (€510/$546/INR45,700). The top-of-the-line 16GB/1TB model retails for CNY 4,198 (€550/$588/INR49,245).
