Xiaomi Poco F6 series / Redmi K70 with new 50 MP camera is here
Redmi launched the Redmi K70 and Redmi K70 Pro at a major event in China today. Both Xiaomi phones will also hit the global market later than the Xiaomi Poco F6 and Poco F6 Pro and feature a new 50 megapixel main camera, fast charging capabilities and flagship chipsets.
Xiaomi Poco F6 / Redmi K70
The Xiaomi Poco F6 / Redmi K70 has a 6.67-inch OLED display with a resolution of 1440p and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The 12-bit panel can display 68.7 billion colors and reaches a peak brightness of 4,000 nits, which, according to Xiaomi, represents a new record. The Chinese have also developed an AI algorithm to upscale selected games and apps. It is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, Qualcomm’s fastest platform of 2022. There are also 12 or 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and between 256 GB and 1 TB of UFS 4.0 storage.
The 50 megapixel main camera has a new sensor with a size of 1/1.55 inch, an aperture of f/1.6 and OIS. There is also an 8 megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 2 megapixel depth sensor. The front camera has a 16 megapixel sensor, which Xiaomi does not provide any further information about. It is probably the 1/3.06 inch sensor with an f/2.5 lens from the Xiaomi Poco F5 and Poco F5 Pro.
The battery of the Poco F6 / Redmi K70 has also not changed at 5,000 mAh. In the new model, however, it charges with a fast 120 watts, meaning a full charge only takes 18 minutes. There is a P2 charging chip and a G1 battery management chip to optimize battery life and overall power management. A 5,000 mm² vapor chamber keeps the chipset cool, 10% larger than its predecessor.
As operating system you get the new Xiaomi HyperOS based on Android 14. There is also NFC, Bluetooth 5.3 and a dual nano-SIM slot. But you have to do without a microSD slot and a 3.5 mm headphone jack.
The Poco F6 / Redmi K70 goes on sale in China on December 1st at 10am in white, black, moonstone blue and purple. Prices start at CNY 2,499 (€320/$350) for the 12/256 GB variant and go up to CNY 3,399 (€435/$480) for the top model with 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage.
Xiaomi Poco F6 Pro / Redmi K70 Pro
The Xiaomi Poco F6 Pro / Redmi K70 Pro is based on the same 6.67-inch 1440p OLED display co-developed with TCL. But under the hood there is a big upgrade with the currently fastest Android chip Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
The main camera has the same 50 megapixel sensor with OIS as the base model. But the Xiaomi Poco F6 Pro features a better 12 megapixel ultrawide camera and a 50 megapixel telephoto lens with two times optical zoom. The selfie camera remains the familiar 16 megapixel sensor. The 5,000 mAh battery also charges with 120 watts for a full load in 18 minutes.
The Xiaomi Poco F6 Pro / Redmi K70 Pro is available in three colors: black, white and blue. Prices start at CNY 3,299 (€420/$465) for 12/256GB. You pay CNY 3,599 (€460/$505) for 16/256 GB and CNY 3,899 (€500/$550) for 16/512 GB. The top variant costs CNY 4,399 (€565/$620) and offers 24GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.
