Realme GT5 Pro: New design and 50 MP periscope camera
Realme’s first real flagship smartphone in years is coming on December 7th and a lot of teasers are currently on the way. A TENAA certification of the Realme GT5 Pro appeared, which included a picture of the back and some technical data. Then Realme itself posted two teasers with several photos on the Chinese network Weibo, which also revealed the front. The images also teased a Sony periscope telephoto camera, a first for the Chinese manufacturer.
The new telephoto camera is based on a 50 megapixel Sony IMX890 sensor combined with a 3x optical zoom with an f/2.6 aperture. A zoom factor of 3 is not much for a periscope telephoto camera. But the large sensor and large aperture may have limited the installation space for the lenses. The setup of the Realme GT5 Pro, including the software optimizations, promises up to six times lossless hybrid zoom. In addition, the camera supports up to 120x digital zoom. We also get a new framework for image processing through the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. Realme promises 10% lower power consumption with up to 44% faster image processing.
The second leak comes from the company’s marketing boss and shows the Realme GT5 Pro from the front right next to an unnamed device. Realme praises the thin frames and slightly rounder corners compared to the competition. The Chinese do not provide any further details. However, we already know from previous leaks that the Realme smartphone will have a 6.78-inch OLED display with a refresh rate of 144 Hz and a resolution of 1220p.
From the TENAA images and today’s teaser, it is also clear that the panel is curved on the sides. However, the curvature could be described as subtle – you can hardly see it in the photo. Further teasers are likely to shed light on the issue before it launches in December.
