Omate Ice Ring: Fitness tracking at your fingertips
Omate has announced a new smart ring called Ice Ring. It is made of titanium alloy and has a slim and minimalist design. The smart ring has multiple health monitoring functions and monitors sleep as well as heart rate and blood oxygen levels. The Omate Ice Ring also measures stress, blood pressure and can track various activities and sports. Thanks to a built-in GPS receiver, you can view the route afterwards in Google Maps on your smartphone.
The Omate Ice Ring distinguishes between four different sleep phases – wakefulness, light sleep, deep sleep and REM sleep. The algorithm provides a sleep score between 0 and 100 depending on sleep quality and the companion app delivers a detailed analysis. You can also use the same app to analyze data on heart rate, blood oxygen levels and other measurements and activities on your iPhone or Android smartphone.
The smart ring is equipped with Bluetooth 5.1 and has an actually tiny 20 mAh battery, which should still provide a standby time of 10 days and a runtime of 4 to 6 days under normal use. As soon as the battery is empty, the included magnetic charging station comes into play. According to Omate, the battery goes from empty to 100% in 30 minutes.
It is powered by a GR5515GGBD chip from Goodix with 1 MB of memory. In addition, the ring is 2.5mm thick, weighs 2.9g and is IP68 protected against water and dust. The Omate Ice Ring is available in six sizes and three colors: gold, silver and space black. It costs €199 ($220) and is available in Europe through Ice-Watch and Louis Pion. The start in the USA and Canada is in the first quarter of 2024.
