Samsung Galaxy M44: Debut in South Korea with Snapdragon 888
Samsung has just released the Galaxy M44 in its home country of South Korea. However, not under this name – in Asia the cell phone is called Galaxy Jump 3, but it should be technically identical and will soon be sold internationally as the M44. The M44 part of the model number SM-M446KZKAKTC also strongly suggests this.
The design is exactly what you would expect from a Samsung mid-range phone in late 2023. There are three circular camera cutouts on the back and an LED flash to the right of them. The display has a waterdrop notch and a clearly visible, thick bottom frame.
All of these technical data fit the M series very well. What doesn’t fit at all, however, is the chipset – a Snapdragon 888. This processor was introduced in 2020. Apparently Samsung still had a few of them lying around and had to slowly install the chips somewhere. The alternative would have been a chipset from the Exynos 1xxx series. And even though the Snapdragon 888 is three years old, it was the high-end chip of its time in the Android world. Therefore, the performance should still be more than sufficient for the Samsung Galaxy M44.
The Galaxy M44 also comes with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of expandable storage. The 6.58-inch PLS LCD display has a resolution of 1,080 x 2,408 pixels and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. In addition to the 50 megapixel main camera, there are two 2 megapixel sensors on the back and a 13 megapixel selfie camera the front. The Samsung smartphone also has a 5,000 mAh battery, measures 167.7 x 78 x 9.1 mm and weighs in at 216 g.
