Apple introduces watchOS 27 with Siri AI and improved design

Alongside iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27, tvOS 27, and visionOS 27, Apple also unveiled watchOS 27 at its Worldwide Developers Conference. This version will be available this fall for the Apple Watch Series 9 and later, the Apple Watch Ultra 2 and Watch Ultra 3, and the Apple Watch SE 3, provided they are paired with a nearby Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone.

watchOS 27 includes the new Siri AI, including the new Siri app, where the assistant remembers all your previous chats. Workout Buddy is now also available in Spanish, menstrual health support has been expanded, and run tracking has been improved.

Workout Buddy also offers new insights, including your progress in pace, distance, and workout duration. Indoor runs and walks are tracked more accurately, and you can open a Smart Stack widget with a single tap. Additional widgets will also appear in your Smart Stack when relevant.

The new dynamic app grid automatically highlights apps suggested by Siri, including your most popular and recently used apps, while the Siri app always remains in the foreground. The Find My app is now also available on watchOS. The update also includes the Liquid Glass design improvements we’ve already seen in iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27 (though the adjustable transparency on the wrist appears to be missing).
The call context feature works in watchOS 27 just as it did in iOS 27, displaying relevant information from your apps when you call a business. Apple also promises that music playback on its smartwatches now starts faster, that you’ll receive battery optimization suggestions, and that step counts in the Fitness app will sync with those in the Health app.
The Wallet app also lets you create individual ID cards for each membership card that uses a QR code or barcode, and you can now easily set up an Apple Watch for your children, even if they don’t own an iPhone.
