Honor X80i with 7,000 mAh battery and Honor Play 80 unveiled
Honor had a big release day today with several new smartphones and one smartwatch. Let’s start with the Honor X80i and the Honor Play 80.
Honor X80i
The newest member of the Honor X series, the Honor X80i, is now available in China. It features a bright 120Hz AMOLED display, a 7,000mAh battery with 45W charging, and is the first smartphone with the MediaTek Dimensity 6500 chipset.
Oddly enough, MediaTek hasn’t officially announced the Dimensity 6500 yet, but Honor’s listing reveals some important details. It features an eight-core CPU with two Cortex-A76 cores at 2.6 GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores at 2.0 GHz. It’s also confirmed that, like the Dimensity 6400 and its predecessors, the chip is equipped with a Mali-G57 MC2 GPU.
As for the other technical specifications of the Honor X80i, it features a 6.6-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1,200 x 2,600 pixels, a 120 Hz refresh rate, and a maximum local brightness of 6,500 nits. It is configurable with up to 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage and offers IP66 water and dust resistance.
The back houses a 50MP main camera with an f/1.8 aperture, an unspecified secondary sensor, and an LED flash. According to Honor’s internal testing, the X80i’s 7,000mAh battery allows for up to 22 hours of video playback and supports 45W wired charging. The smartphone runs MagicOS 10, based on Android 16, and includes Honor’s AI suite.
Prices
The Honor X80i is available in black, green, pink, and white. Prices start at 1,999 CNY (252 euros/290 USD) for the base model with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage, and go up to 2,799 CNY (352 euros/407 USD) for the version with 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. The device is already listed in Honor’s official online store in China; the first deliveries are scheduled for April 10th.
Honor Play 80
Yesterday, Honor launched the Play 80 Pro, and now the standard model is also available. The Honor Play 80 features a 6.75-inch LCD display with a resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels and a 90 Hz refresh rate.
It is powered by the 5G-enabled MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset and, like the Pro model, still runs on Android 15 and Honor’s MagicOS 9. It features a 13-megapixel main camera and a 5-megapixel front camera.
The necessary energy is provided by a 5,300 mAh battery with support for 15-watt wired charging. The Honor smartphone measures 167 x 77 x 7.89 mm and weighs 186 g. It is available in two shades of blue and black, as well as in four storage variants: 4/128 GB, 6/128 GB, 6/256 GB and 8/256 GB.
