Huawei Watch GT Runner 2 with new TruSense sensor and 14-day battery life is here
At its product launch event, “Now is Your Run,” Huawei presented a smartwatch specifically designed for runners. The Huawei Watch GT Runner 2 is the successor to the Watch GT Runner from 2021 and promises first-class positioning as well as marathon-specific training and health information.
The Huawei Watch GT Runner 2 features a 1.32-inch AMOLED touchscreen display and a 43.5 mm thick case. The display offers a maximum brightness of 3,000 nits and is protected by second-generation Kunlun glass. Huawei hasn’t skimped on materials: the GT Runner 2 has a titanium case and a metal bezel. The watch weighs 43.5 grams, is 10.7 mm thick, and is water-resistant to a depth of 40 meters.
It was developed in collaboration with marathon legend and two-time Olympic champion Eliud Kipchoge and the DSM-Firmenich Running Team. As expected, positional accuracy plays a crucial role for professional runners, and Huawei has developed a new, floating 3D antenna for the GT Runner 2.
It features an optimized antenna sealing design that, according to Huawei, provides high GPS accuracy even in challenging environments such as tunnels or shaded areas. Huawei states that the GT Runner 2 offers 3.5 times better antenna performance than its predecessor.
The improved antenna is combined with a new inertial positioning algorithm that uses the accelerometer and gyroscope to enable more precise route tracking, even in enclosed areas like tunnels and underpasses. The Huawei Watch GT Runner 2 offers dual-band satellite positioning with independent navigation capabilities, allowing you to record workouts and receive directions without needing a paired smartphone.

The Huawei Smartwatch is also equipped with Huawei’s latest TruSense sensor and algorithm package, which records vital signs such as heart rate, blood oxygen saturation, ECG, respiratory rate, sleep and stress.
There’s an intelligent marathon mode that guides athletes through training while tracking performance metrics such as running power, dynamic pace guidance, and smart refueling reminders. This is also the first Huawei watch with a real-time algorithm for determining the lactate threshold (also known as the anaerobic threshold), a key indicator of fatigue development.
The Huawei Watch GT Runner 2 is compatible with both iOS and Android. It features a 540mAh Si-C battery with a battery life of up to 14 days with light use and 32 hours with continuous GPS use. An integrated speaker enables hands-free calls, and an NFC antenna allows for mobile payments. Huawei has confirmed that Curve Pay is available on the Watch GT Runner 2 in the UK starting today.
Prices
The Huawei Watch GT Runner 2 is available in Dawn Orange, Dusk Blue, and Midnight Black and costs £350. Official sales start today, and the Huawei Store is offering a special deal until April 19th: early adopters receive a £30 discount voucher and an additional free strap. Pricing for Germany has not yet been announced.
