Apple tested AirPods in pink and yellow
According to reports, Apple was testing a version of the first generation AirPods with brightly colored charging cases similar to the iPhone 5c. These were leaked by the Apple leaker and prototype collector. Kosutami The leaked images allegedly show prototypes of the first-generation AirPods with pink and yellow cases. The charging case and the earbuds themselves are white on the inside.
They resemble some of the color options of the iPhone 5c, which was available in blue, green, pink, yellow, and white. However, Apple has so far only released its headphones in white.
In 2023, Kosutami shared pictures of pink AirPods. Apple had apparently developed five different color variations for the headphones to match the iPhone 7, but decided against pursuing the idea further.
AirPods Max are the only ones with multiple color options
Some users have been wanting different colors for years. Apple initially seemed to only want to offer the charging case in different colors, but interestingly, the company even developed prototypes in various colors for the charging case, matching different iPhone models. Currently, the AirPods Max are the only Apple headphones which are available in various colors.
