OnePlus 13T: Smart Button instead of Alert Slider
According to a forum post by OnePlus CEO Pete Lau himself, the company will be saying goodbye to its long-standing Alert Slider. The company argues that a smart button is both more customizable and more in line with the brand’s fans’ wishes. The OnePlus 13T will likely be the first phone to replace the slider with the new Smart Button.
Li Jie, President of OnePlus China, also shared the image below and said that “the OnePlus 13T has been upgraded with a new shortcut key.” It supports switching between silent, vibration, and ring modes just like the slider, and also provides easy access to other functions. OnePlus has designed “a very interesting function” for the button, which will be unveiled soon.
When surveying fans of compact smartphones, OnePlus also found that users prefer flat displays. Therefore, the OnePlus 13T will have a small screen. The exact dimensions have not been officially confirmed, but rumors suggest the 13T will have a 6.3-inch display.
What Li Jie did confirm was that the OnePlus 13T will have a battery with at least a 6,000 mAh capacity and weigh 185 g. This battery is as large, if not larger, than the 6,000 mAh cell in the 6.82-inch OnePlus 13, which is significantly heavier at 210 g. The 13T will be unveiled later this month, but no specific date has been announced yet.
