Samsung plans “Brain Health” feature with dementia detection
At CES next month, where Samsung is holding a product launch in its own exhibition area, Samsung is rumored to be unveiling a new brain health feature called Brain Health, which detects early signs of dementia.
The whole thing works by analyzing various measurements and complements Samsung’s numerous other preventive health features, which include blood pressure measurement, ECG and notifications for heart rhythm disorders.
Samsung Brain Health uses gait patterns, voice changes, and sleep status
The new feature uses data collected from Samsung smartphones and Galaxy smartwatches such as gait patterns, voice changes, and sleep patterns are recorded. Based on this data analysis, cognitive impairments and early signs of dementia are detected.
If it works, it will offer guidance on preventative measures as well as a personalized “brain training” program to improve cognitive abilities (if it works). This feature was reportedly developed internally by the Korean company and is currently undergoing clinical validation in collaboration with medical institutions. It is unclear when the new health features will actually be released.
