According to the well-known Weibo tipster Digital Chat Station, one of Apple’s usual battery suppliers has just had two batteries jointly certified, meaning they are intended for a foldable smartphone, as these devices use shared batteries due to their form factor. And there’s only one device that fits the bill – the upcoming Apple iPhone Ultra.

The batteries in question have a nominal capacity of 1,921 mAh and 2,962 mAh respectively, totaling 4,883 mAh. This is the nominal capacity; the commonly advertised capacity is 5,000 mAh. The iPhone Ultra will most likely have this capacity.

Apple iPhone Ultra matches Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra

Interestingly, the battery capacity matches the presumed capacity of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, despite the latter having a different aspect ratio. The Fold8 Ultra is expected to be the successor to last year’s Galaxy Z Fold7. Samsung’s direct competitor to the iPhone Ultra is the Galaxy Z Fold8, whose battery is rumored to have a 4,800 mAh capacity.

The Apple iPhone Ultra is expected to be unveiled in September alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max. Despite some past rumors suggesting a delay, the latest reports now indicate that it will be released as planned.
