Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra US pricing and camera features revealed
Recent leaks have already given us a first glimpse into the potential prices of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z foldable smartphones in Europe and South Korea. Now, a new report has revealed the US prices of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 and the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra.
According to the report, which cites industry sources, the Galaxy Z Fold8 with a widescreen display and 256GB of storage will cost $1,899 in the US. Meanwhile, the higher-end Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is expected to cost $100 more than the Galaxy Z Fold7, the model it is intended to replace.
Rumors suggest the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra will start at $2,099 for the base model with 256GB of storage. According to reports, Samsung is currently conducting a final pricing review before the device is expected to launch next week.
It has already been confirmed that both foldable smartphones will be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset for Galaxy. Rumors suggest that the Galaxy Z Fold8 will feature a 5.5-inch external display, a 7.6-inch internal display, a dual rear camera, and a 4,800 mAh battery.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra with Galaxy S26 Ultra camera features
A second new leak suggests that the Ultra could finally offer a flagship-level camera. In a blog post on the Korean platform Naver, leaker Lanzuk claimed that the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra will “adopt key camera features from the Galaxy S26 Ultra.”
According to the informant, the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra will support video LUTs for professional color correction and will feature improved low-light performance as well as optimized image processing.
The foldable device is also expected to have several camera-oriented software features, including the ability to record dual video using the front and rear cameras.
However, previous leaks suggest that the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra will not receive any major hardware upgrades to its camera. It is expected to retain a 200MP main camera, a 10MP periscope telephoto sensor with 3x optical zoom, and a 50MP ultrawide camera.
Samsung has scheduled its next Galaxy Unpacked event for July 22nd in London, where the Galaxy Z Fold8, Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra and Galaxy Z Flip8 are expected to be unveiled.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip8 will be the last Flip model
According to well-known Chinese leaker Ice Universe, who has a good track record regarding Samsung phones, the company could discontinue the Galaxy Z Flip series. The Galaxy Z Flip 8 would then be the last model of its kind.
These speculations have surfaced several times over the years, but they never originated from reasonably reputable sources like Ice Universe. And back then, given the booming market for foldable devices, it didn’t sound plausible.
However, a few years later, Samsung’s rather drastic decision suddenly seems somewhat more understandable. For one thing, RAM prices are rising, forcing manufacturers to charge higher prices for their smartphones. Take, for example, the recently released Motorola Razr 70 and Razr 70 Ultra. Both devices are significantly more expensive, and Motorola justifies the price increase with the rising component costs.
In fact, foldable smartphones with a clamshell design are now almost nonexistent in Western markets. Oppo, Xiaomi, vivo, and Honor have either discontinued sales of their clamshell phones in Europe and the US or never offered them outside of China. This leaves Samsung and Motorola as the only smartphone manufacturers still offering clamshell phones.
