The well-known leaker Sonny Dickson is back with detailed images of a foldable iPhone dummy. These images apparently show the final design of the Apple iPhone Ultra, giving us the best look yet of the device’s appearance. He also suggests that the foldable iPhone might only be available in white.

Dummy units are non-functional prototypes primarily intended for display purposes and accessory manufacturers. These require a high degree of physical accuracy to enable the mass production of cases and other accessories prior to the official device announcement. Dickson first presented early dummy models of the foldable Apple iPhone Ultra in April, alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, providing the first visual confirmation of the wide design.

The latest dummy model of the Apple iPhone Ultra is significantly more detailed than those circulating so far. Early last week, leaker Ice Universe shared an image that appeared to show a white, foldable iPhone dummy, but Dickson’s model offers a much clearer view of the design and display.

Apple iPhone Ultra in 4:3 format

The images confirm previous design rumors. The Apple iPhone Ultra is expected to have a book-like design in a 4:3 aspect ratio. This makes it significantly wider than it is tall and distinguishes it from most other currently available foldable smartphones, with the exception of the Huawei Pura X Max and the rumored, redesigned Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8. It features a 5.5-inch external display and a 7.8-inch OLED internal display, making it only slightly smaller than the iPad mini when unfolded.

Rumors suggest that the Apple iPhone Ultra will feature an ultra-thin 4.5 mm titanium frame, the volume buttons will be moved to the top edge of the device, there will be no action button, Touch ID instead of Face ID, and a horizontal dual-camera arrangement on the back in a camera platform similar to the iPhone Air.

The latest Apple iPhone Ultra dummy models reveal several new design aspects: The cover display extends to the edge and is slightly rounded at the edges. The camera flash is located below the rear microphone in the camera module. The rear microphone has a new design with seven holes, and the front camera is positioned in the top left corner of the inner display. This will almost certainly have implications for the Dynamic Island.

Dickson’s theory that there will only be one color option confirms a report from Friday in which Weibo leaker Instant Digital suggested that there might not be a black model and that white could be the only option. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman previously reported that Apple plans to forgo bold colors and stick to traditional finishes.

It’s noteworthy that some recent high-end products, such as the Apple Watch Ultra 3 and the Vision Pro headset, initially launched in only one color. This approach largely aligns with Apple’s previous practice for product launches with generational shifts. The iPhone X launched in November 2017 in just two colors, silver and space gray, at a then-record starting price of $999. The iPhone XS, released a year later, added gold, and Apple could potentially follow the same phased approach with the iPhone Ultra over time.

The foldable iPhone is expected to be unveiled in September 2026, alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. According to Gurman, the starting price will exceed €2,000/US$2,000.
