Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra: Bluetooth certification and new images
Rumors suggest that Samsung plans to launch two foldable, book-style smartphones this year: the Galaxy Z Fold8 and the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra. The Fold8 was previously called the Z Fold Wide, while the Fold8 Ultra was simply the Fold8. The renaming last month caused some confusion. Although Samsung has not yet commented on this development, it is now clear that the name Fold8 Ultra does indeed exist.
This confirmation comes from the Bluetooth SIG, which added the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra to its database after the foldable smartphone was certified. While the database doesn’t contain any technical specifications for the Fold8 Ultra, it does list five model numbers for the smartphone: SC-56G, SCG39, SM-F976C, SM-F976Q, and SM-F976Z.

A second leak has surfaced with further images showing dummy models of the two Galaxy phones side by side. The images reveal no new information, but merely illustrate how the two foldables differ in terms of design.
The Fold8 Ultra features a triple-camera system on the back. The more compact Fold8 has a dual-camera setup on the back and offers a wider foldable screen with a 4:3 aspect ratio.
It’s noteworthy that while the backs of both smartphones appear whitish, images from the same source, Ice Universe, in another post on X show them both in blue. It’s unclear whether these are different colors or whether blue appears differently under different lighting conditions.
Rumors suggest the Ultra will have a 5,000 mAh battery, support 45W wired charging, and weigh 215g. When unfolded, the smartphone will measure 4.1mm, making it 0.1mm thinner than its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Fold7.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8, on the other hand, will be equipped with a 4,800 mAh battery, but offers the same charging speed as the Ultra model. It weighs 201 g and features a new 50 MP camera with native support for a 24 MP mode.
CAD-based renderings revealed the design back in March, and a hands-on video has also surfaced, giving us a better look at the wide foldable smartphone. The Galaxy smartphone has also been spotted in spy photos.
