Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Wide could be released this year
Rumors about a wide, foldable Samsung smartphone have been circulating for some time. Most recently, we saw some UI animations of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Wide in One UI 9. According to the well-known Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station the device is currently under development and could be released this year. It could even be a completely new series of devices, alongside the Galaxy Z Fold7 and the Galaxy Z Flip7.
The source suggests a 7.6-inch internal display, likely in 4:3 format, which, when unfolded, would form would resemble a tablet and allow for multitasking, document editing, and especially video playback without excessively thick black borders. The obvious disadvantage of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Wide, however, is its particularly wide design when folded, which can make one-handed operation somewhat more difficult.

The leak also mentions a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, what would make sense for a release sometime in 2026. Furthermore, DCS specifies a typical battery capacity of around 4,800 mAh and a minimum nominal capacity of 4,660 mAh for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Wide. This would likely be distributed across two cells with capacities of 2,267 mAh and 2,393 mAh. Finally, the source claims that the device will be available in China.
The leak names Apple and Samsung as one of the two most important international providers of large foldable smartphones in 2026. As the largest local manufacturers, DCS lists Huawei and a fourth still unknown actor.
