Apple Watch Series 11 with hypertension detection and sleep score is here
Apple has introduced the Apple Watch Series 11 with hypertension detection, Sleep Score, 5G connectivity, and more. The smartwatch features an improved Ion-X front glass with twice the scratch resistance thanks to a new, Apple-developed ceramic coating that hardens the surface. Titanium models continue to feature a sapphire glass front glass.
The Apple Watch Series 11 features the same S10 chip as the Series 10, but offers 5G connectivity for the first time on cellular models, ensuring faster connections with higher throughput. A newly designed cellular antenna covers the various frequency bands and activates both system antennas simultaneously when needed. This significantly increases signal strength, especially in areas with weak coverage.
The Apple Watch Series 11 offers 24 hours of battery life—a significant increase over the 18 hours of previous generations. It also supports fast charging: in just 15 minutes, battery life increases to up to eight hours.
Hypertension Detection notifies you if the Apple Watch detects signs of high blood pressure over time. Apple says that not all cases of high blood pressure are detected, but expects to notify more than one million people of unknown high blood pressure in the first year. Apple is awaiting approval from the FDA and other regulatory authorities.
The system uses data from the optical heart sensor to analyze how a user’s blood vessels respond to heartbeats. The algorithm works passively in the background, reviewing data over a 30-day period.
The new Sleep Score feature provides at-a-glance insights into sleep quality and helps users strive for more restful sleep. The Sleep Score is determined by sleep duration, bedtime consistency, frequency of awakenings, and the duration of each sleep stage. The Sleep Score provides a clear breakdown of key sleep components, so users know what to look for to improve their sleep.
Apple Watch Series 11 Prices
The Apple Watch Series 11 continues to be available in 42mm and 46mm case sizes, as well as Wi-Fi-only and cellular models. Aluminum models are available in jet black, silver, rose gold, and space gray, while polished titanium cases are available in natural, gold, and slate gray. Prices continue to start at €449/$399. Pre-orders open today. The market launch will take place on Friday, September 19.
Apple also announced the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max, iPhone Air, Watch Ultra 3 and the AirPods Pro 3 presented.
