Apple iPhone Air with 5.6 mm profile and A19 Pro chip is here
The Apple iPhone Air brings the biggest design change in recent times, fully focusing on the forgotten focus on slim and light smartphones. At 5.6 mm, it’s the thinnest iPhone yet. Apple calls it “a paradox you have to hold to believe.” It replaces the iPhone 16 Plus, which never really caught on.
The Apple iPhone Air features a large 6.5-inch LTPO Super Retina OLED display with a ProMotion refresh rate of 120 Hz. It also offers updated Ceramic Shield 2 protection and brightness of up to 3,000 nits. However, the slim and lightweight design required some compromises. The most obvious is the back, where Apple only uses a 48 MP camera. With Center Stage, you also get an 18 MP front-facing camera.
But there’s no skimping on performance. The Apple iPhone Air is equipped with the brand-new A19 Pro chip. It features a 6-core CPU and a 5-core GPU. This should put the iPhone Air on par with the MacBook Pro in terms of performance.
But that’s not all: The iPhone Air debuts the Apple N1 chip, which enables Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0. Added to this is the Apple C1X modem, which is twice as fast as the C1 modem and consumes 30% less power than the Qualcomm Snapdragon X71 modem in the iPhone 16 Pro.
Although Apple doesn’t specify the exact battery capacity, the iPhone Air is said to offer all-day battery life. Apple offers an optional slim MagSafe Battery for €115/$99, which extends the Air’s video playback time to 40 hours.

The iPhone Air is available in Space Black, Cloud White, Light Gold, and Sky Blue. The base version with 256 GB of storage starts at €1,199/$999.
Pre-orders are now available in the US and other first-wave countries. Delivery is scheduled for September 19.
