Design
The Beats By Dre Fit Pro were designed with a clear focus on a secure fit. Instead of traditional ear hooks, these in-ear headphones feature flexible wingtips that conform to the shape of the ear. This ensures the headphones stay firmly in place even during running, workouts, or other high-intensity activities. At the same time, they remain significantly more compact than sports headphones with bulky ear hooks.
- True wireless in-ear design
- Integrated flexible wingtips
- Three sizes of silicone earplugs are included.
- Ergonomically shaped case
- Pressure equalization through integrated ventilation openings
- 5.6 grams weight per earbud
- Compact charging case
- Physical multifunction button on each earbud
The wingtips are permanently integrated into the housing and cannot be replaced. Silicone ear tips in three sizes are available for adjusting the fit. A fit test can help determine the appropriate size.
Build quality
The Beats By Dre Fit Pro earbuds are made primarily of plastic, but are robustly designed for mobile and athletic use. The earbuds themselves have an IPX4 rating, meaning they are protected against sweat and splashes of water. The charging case, however, does not have this level of water resistance.
- Robust plastic housing
- Flexible and firmly integrated wingtips
- IPX4 certification of the earbuds
- Protection against sweat and splash water
- Physical controls
- Magnetic attachment of the earbuds to the charging case
- USB-C port on the charging case
With an IPX4 rating, these headphones are well-suited for training and everyday use. However, they are not completely waterproof and should therefore not be used while swimming or underwater.
Performance
Inside the Beats by Dre Fit Pro is Apple’s H1 chip, which is also used in various AirPods models. This allows the headphones to support numerous features of the Apple ecosystem. The custom-designed acoustic platform is intended to deliver both powerful and balanced sound.
- Apple H1 Chip
- Class 1 Bluetooth
- Active Noise Cancelling
- Transparency mode
- Adaptive EQ
- 3D Audio
- Dynamic head tracking with compatible Apple devices
- Automatic switching between compatible Apple devices
- Audio release
- Hands-free “Hey Siri”
- “Where is?” support
The active noise cancellation of the Beats by Dre Fit Pro uses outward-facing microphones to capture ambient noise and reduce it through anti-noise. Transparency mode works in reverse, allowing ambient noise to pass through. This is useful, for example, when running in traffic or during conversations.
Adaptive EQ adjusts the sound to the individual fit of the earbuds. The microphones capture the actual sound reaching the ear, and the signal processing corrects the playback accordingly.
- Powerful bass reproduction
- Balanced voting
- Automatic sound adjustment through Adaptive EQ
- Noise cancellation for focused listening
- Transparency mode for perceiving the environment
- Spatial playback via 3D audio
Phone calls are also included. Two beamforming microphones assist in voice capture, while additional sensors and algorithms help reduce distracting ambient noise.
While not all of the H1’s features deeply integrated into iOS are available on Android, the Beats app offers features such as quick pairing, a fit test, customizable controls, and a finder function for the earbuds.
Battery
With noise cancellation or transparency mode enabled, the Beats by Dre Fit Pro earbuds offer up to six hours of playback time per charge. The charging case provides an additional 18 hours, for a total of up to 24 hours. Disabling ANC and transparency mode increases the earbuds’ battery life to up to seven hours.
- Up to 6 hours with ANC or transparency mode
- Up to 7 hours without ANC and transparency mode
- An additional 18 hours via the charging case
- Up to 24 hours of combined playback time
- Fast Fuel fast charging function
- 5 minutes of charging for up to 1 hour of playback
- Rechargeable lithium-ion batteries
- USB-C charging port
Wireless charging is not supported by the Beats by Dre Fit Pro charging case. A USB-C cable is used for charging. The Fast Fuel feature is especially useful when the earbuds are nearly empty just before a workout or a drive.
Conclusion
The Beats by Dre Fit Pro combine the features of high-quality true wireless headphones with a particularly sporty fit. The flexible wingtips ensure a secure fit, while IPX4 water and dust resistance, active noise cancellation, and transparency mode make these headphones equally appealing for workouts, travel, and everyday use. Thanks to the Apple H1 chip, iPhone users especially benefit from automatic device switching, audio sharing, “Hey Siri,” 3D audio with dynamic head tracking, and seamless integration with iOS.
At the same time, the Beats by Dre Fit Pro remain easily usable for Android users thanks to the Beats app. The battery life of up to six hours with ANC and up to 24 hours total with the charging case is solid, though not exceptionally long compared to newer true wireless models. However, for those primarily seeking a secure fit, ANC, and good Apple integration, the Beats Fit Pro offer versatile headphones for both sports and everyday use.
