Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold: Here’s the price
This week marks the long-awaited US rollout of the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold. The device will be available for purchase starting Friday, January 30th. Samsung confirmed that the trifold smartphone will be sold exclusively through Samsung.com and select Samsung Experience Stores for the hefty price of $2,899, which is roughly equivalent to €2,421.
This would make the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold, with its dual-folding display, the most expensive new smartphone in the US. Those willing to pay the high price can get the Z TriFold in Crafted Black with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. The live images above and below are from the Market launch in mid-December in Samsung’s home country of South Korea.
The Galaxy Z TriFold costs 3,590,400 KRW (2,086 euros/2,494 US dollars) there. However, the foldable smartphone was only available in limited quantities in South Korea and, as expected, sold out within minutes. Samsung has not yet confirmed the number of units planned for the US.
Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold with 10-inch main display
When fully unfolded, the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold offers a large 10-inch foldable display with a resolution of 2,160 x 1,584 pixels. An adaptive refresh rate of 1 to 120 Hz and a peak brightness of up to 1,600 nits ensure smooth and easily readable display. A 10 MP front camera is housed in a small cutout, and a protective film is pre-applied.
The external display measures 6.5 inches, has a resolution of 2,520 x 1,080 pixels, and uses a narrow 21:9 aspect ratio. It also features a 1–120 Hz refresh rate, while the brightness is particularly high at up to 2,600 nits. The screen is protected by Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, and a second 10 MP selfie camera is also integrated.
The operating system is One UI 8 based on Android 16. The large screen enables enhanced multitasking, allowing up to three apps to be displayed side-by-side simultaneously. For the first time, a dedicated Samsung DeX is also included, which can be launched directly from the quick settings and, in combination with a mouse and keyboard, transforms the device into a mobile workstation.
Despite its complex design, the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold remains very slim, which is the real highlight of the Galaxy phone. The Advanced Armor aluminum frame allows for a thickness of only 3.9 mm when unfolded. When folded, the device measures 159.2 × 75 × 12.9 mm and weighs 309 grams. It also features IP48 protection against dust and water.
Inside, the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chipset is supported by 16 GB of RAM and either 512 GB or 1 TB of internal storage. The camera setup is the same as that of the Galaxy Z Fold7 and consists of a 200MP main camera, a 10MP telephoto lens with triple optical zoom and a 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera.
The Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold is powered by a 5,600 mAh three-cell battery distributed across the individual panels. It supports wired charging up to 45 watts and wireless charging up to 15 watts.
