Samsung Galaxy S26 still with a 10 MP telephoto, no S26 Edge
According to most reports, the Samsung Galaxy S26 series will not offer any exciting camera upgrades. The latest report comes from reliable leaker Ice Universe and claims that all three Galaxy S26 models (S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra) will use a 10MP ISOCELL sensor for their 3x zoom photos.
More precisely, it’s the 10 MP ISOCELL camera (1/3.94 inch) with a pixel pitch of 1.0 μm and a 36-degree lens with an aperture of f/2.4. This description perfectly matches the 67mm f/2.4 camera in the Galaxy S25 and S25+, which, however, only offers mediocre image quality and lacks features like pixel binning and improved digital zoom performance.
However, according to Ice Universe, it’s a new sensor that retains the existing technical specifications. Whether this will improve image quality or introduce new features remains to be seen. The Galaxy S25 series was already somewhat disappointing in terms of camera performance. The Galaxy S25 Ultra received a higher-resolution sensor, but not a larger 50MP sensor for the ultrawide lens, while the standard and Plus models retained their unchanged camera systems.
Samsung Galaxy S26 series might still be released as planned
Earlier this month, a leak suggested that the Samsung Galaxy S26 series might still be released as planned. The Galaxy S26 series could be unveiled at the end of February 2026, with sales starting in March. However, according to a second new report, the launch could happen sooner. A report from South Korea states that Samsung has managed to postpone the Galaxy Unpacked event to the end of January next year. Sales are expected to begin in early February.
The report also confirms earlier rumors that the Samsung Galaxy S26 series will consist of the S26, the S26+, and the S26 Ultra. The base and Plus variants are powered by the Exynos 2600 chipset, while the Ultra model gets the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.
The Samsung Galaxy S26 Edge, on the other hand, is being discontinued as a one-off experiment due to weak sales figures. According to the report, only about 1.3 million units of the Galaxy S25 Edge were sold in the three months following its launch. That’s a staggering 74% drop compared to the Plus model.
