Samsung Galaxy S26 series expected to receive camera and battery upgrades

Samsung has faced heavy criticism for several years for not significantly improving its flagship models. However, a recent rumor, which should be treated with caution, suggests that all Samsung Galaxy S26 models will receive substantial improvements to cameras, batteries, and displays early next year.
Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra
Let’s start with the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra. It is rumored to feature an improved M14 OLED panel with some kind of AI-powered privacy feature, while retaining the same 6.9-inch screen size. This AI privacy feature is likely the one described in a previous leak.

The main, ultra-wide, and 5x telephoto cameras reportedly retain their 200MP, 50MP, and 50MP resolutions, respectively, with improvements to the main and ultra-wide cameras. However, there is still uncertainty regarding the 3x telephoto camera, as the tipster isn’t entirely sure whether the device will use the same 12MP sensor as before, a larger 12MP sensor, or a 50MP camera.
The battery capacity is not yet confirmed, but according to the report, it will be a 5,400mAh cell.
Galaxy S26+
The Samsung Galaxy S26+, on the other hand, is expected to receive a significantly more comprehensive camera update. The main sensor is expected to be replaced by a larger 1/1.3-inch sensor (previously 1/1.56 inches), the ultrawide camera upgraded to 50 MP, and the 10 MP telephoto camera replaced by a larger 12 MP sensor (1/2.55 inches).

Although not explicitly mentioned in the report, we expect the S26+ to inherit the ultrawide and telephoto cameras from the current Galaxy S25 Ultra. All this information suggests that Samsung hasn’t abandoned the Plus model and will likely discontinue the Edge model.
Galaxy S26
The base model of the Samsung Galaxy S26 series is expected to receive the same camera upgrades as the S26 Plus, but with a slightly larger battery capacity of 4,200 or 4,300 mAh.

Interestingly, the report mentions a slimmer Galaxy S26 model that will have fewer compromises than the original Edge and will be sized precisely between the standard S26 and the S26 Plus.
The display is rumored to have a 6.6-inch diagonal, the main camera a 50 MP sensor, and will be complemented by an ultrawide and a telephoto camera, also with 50 MP. The battery capacity is said to be around 4,300 mAh.
All three, or four if you include the still-unannounced Samsung Galaxy S26 Slim, will be equipped with either the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 or the Exynos 2600, depending on the region.
The information comes from an unknown source, but describes the product range in surprisingly good detail, so…
