Apple Card: What is known so far

2026 could finally be the year in which the Apple Card is getting a new financial partner, and this could lead to some changes for cardholders.

s a reminder: The card was introduced in 2019 and is still only available in the USA. The credit card can be accessed via the Wallet app on the iPhone. Key benefits include color-coded spending summaries, no fees, and daily cashback payouts (Daily Cash). Apple Card holders can also open high-interest savings accounts.
Apple Card needs a new financial partner
In July, the Wall Street Journal reported that JPMorgan, the parent company of Chase Bank, was in advanced talks with Apple to replace Goldman Sachs as the partner bank for the Apple Card. Goldman Sachs has been gradually winding down its consumer credit business after billions in losses, and Apple is reportedly ready to release the company from a contract that would otherwise run until 2030.

Reports indicate that Barclays and Synchrony were also in talks about a potential new financial partnership with Apple. It is unclear whether these companies are still in the running. Regarding the card’s payment network, Visa and American Express have reportedly expressed interest in acquiring Mastercard.
Should the card acquire a new financial partner, there could be updates to card features, policies, interest rates, customer service processes, and more.
Chase Bank does not currently offer a high-interest savings account. Therefore, it is unclear what would happen to the Apple Card savings account if Chase were to acquire the credit card. Cardholders are currently offered an effective annual interest rate of 3.65%.
You can apply for an Apple Card on the Apple website.
