Apple Pay is now available in India

Twelve years after launching its payment service in the US, Apple Pay has finally reached India. However, the service is initially limited to selected bank cards.

Apple’s payment service is available to users in India on all Apple devices except the Mac, but support for macOS is expected to follow soon.
Apple Pay via Axis Bank
The payment service currently supports Visa and Mastercard credit cards issued by Axis Bank. Users can add their cards to Apple Wallet and make contactless payments at thousands of retailers, both in-store and online. NFC transactions are also supported.
In an official press release, Apple explained the privacy features of its payment service, pointing out that the service neither stores the actual card numbers on the device nor on its servers, nor does it pass them on to merchants.
