According to Bloomberg, Apple plans to launch an updated 14-inch MacBook Pro M6 at the end of 2026 and follow it up with a revised model featuring the M7 chipset in the first half of 2027.

Apple apparently completed development of the 14-inch MacBook Pro M6 months ago, and the device is expected to launch before the end of the year. The M6 chip cycle will be shorter than previous cycles, as Apple is not planning M6 Pro and M6 Max chips. Apple is aiming for a rapid transition between the M6 and M7 chips, as the M7 chips are optimized for AI applications.

First Apple MacBook Pro M6, then M7 Touch

The Apple MacBook Pro M7, slated for release in 2027, will feature a new design, mirroring the design of Apple’s announced high-end MacBook Pro models with OLED touchscreens. Previous rumors had already hinted at a slimmer design for the high-end OLED MacBook Pro models.

The exact release date for the MacBook Pro models with OLED displays is still unclear, but Bloomberg anticipates a launch in late 2026 or early 2027. Apple’s release dates are currently uncertain due to ongoing memory chip shortages and the associated cost increases.

Apple has a long list of products that could be released in the first half of 2027, including new iPad Pro models, the iPhone Air 2 with a second camera, the iPhone 18 and the iPhone 18e.
