Apple iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max with smaller Dynamic Island
For the past few months, we have been experiencing a back-and-forth regarding rumors and leaks about whether or not Apple will reduce the size of the Dynamic Island punch-hole cutout on the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max.
Today, a tipster on X claims to have received new CAD files for the upcoming devices. These types of files are given directly to Apple, for example, to case manufacturers so they can offer compatible accessories at launch.
The images show that the new CAD files have a significantly smaller cutout for the front camera at the top of the screen compared to the previous iPhone 17 Pro. The recess has existed unchanged in this form since the iPhone 14 Pro.
Apple iPhone 18 Pro with Face ID under the display?
Furthermore, the notch appears to be slightly taller but significantly narrower. If this is true, it most likely means that Apple has moved at least part of the Face ID sensors under the display. Since these are no longer part of the notch, the notch itself can be smaller.
Since the back design of the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max will, according to rumors, remain largely identical to its predecessors, the smaller Dynamic Island could represent the most significant design change of the iPhone Pro models this year. Aside from a new color, of course.
