In six days the moment has arrived: The Oppo Find N6 is being unveiled, and the teaser campaign is in full swing. The latest information comes directly from Oppo and reveals the foldable main display without a visible crease. Oppo claims to have developed the first “zero-feel” crease thanks to the redesigned hinge and the new, self-leveling Flex Glass.

As with any foldable device, the hinge is arguably the most important component, and Oppo has developed a new second-generation titanium flex hinge that is manufactured from a liquid 3D printed part.

The development process begins with precise laser scanning, creating a highly accurate model of each hinge surface. This is followed by a liquid 3D printing process in which Oppo uses tiny droplets of photopolymer resin to smooth out imperfections. This process helps eliminate structural irregularities at a microscopic level. Each hinge layer is then immediately cured with UV light.

Oppo Find N6 uses titanium hinges

The hinge and wing plates of the Oppo Find N6 are made of a grade 5 titanium alloy. The design features a wider, teardrop shape, increasing the folding radius while reducing stress on the display. Oppo also includes an improved carbon fiber support plate.

But not only the hinge of the Oppo smartphone has been improved. Oppo is also addressing the issue of so-called “creep.” This occurs when the inner layers of the foldable screen shift after daily use, resulting in a deeper vertical crease along the screen. Oppo states that its self-leveling Flexglass is 50% thicker than ultra-thin glass (UTG), making it significantly more durable and resistant to warping.

It offers superior elasticity, prevents any deformation, and ensures significantly greater shape recovery. Oppo tested its new development in collaboration with TÜV Rheinland. The tests showed that the hinge and the self-leveling flex glass of the Oppo Find N6 reduced the folding depth compared to the Find N5 by 82%. Oppo also states that the Find N6’s display remains perfectly flat and shows no visible creases even after more than 600,000 folds.
