Apple Studio Display 2: What is known so far
Apple is reportedly planning to release a new Studio Display in the first half of 2026, and there have been numerous rumors about the monitor recently. Below, we summarize the latest rumors regarding the Apple Studio Display 2.
Apple Studio Display 2 features
- In his newsletter “Power On” from Sunday, Bloombergs Mark Gurman wrote that he had been told the new Studio Display 2 “looks very similar to the current one”, which likely rules out major design changes.
- There have already been two rumors that the maximum refresh rate of the Studio Display 2 will be 90 Hz instead of 120 Hz. The current model has 60 Hz.
- Last month, an unreleased Apple monitor (model A3350) appeared in a Chinese regulatory database, which was probably the Studio Display 2.
- Previously rumored features include a 27-inch screen with mini-LED backlighting, HDR support and an A19 chip or an A19 Pro chip.
The current Studio Display was launched in March 2022 along with the first Mac Studio. It features a 27-inch LCD screen with 5K resolution, a 60Hz refresh rate, up to 600 nits brightness, an integrated camera and speakers, a Thunderbolt 3 port, and three USB-C ports. Prices start at €1,749/$1,599.
Should the Apple Studio Display 2 feature mini-LED backlighting and HDR support, its maximum brightness and contrast ratio would be higher than the current model. A newer A19 or A19 Pro chip – instead of the current A13 Bionic – should also contribute to performance improvements, camera optimizations, and other benefits.
Based on the rumored timeframe of the first half of 2026, the Apple Studio Display 2 is likely to be unveiled sometime between now and the end of June.
