Huawei Mate 80 Pro Max and Mate 80 RS with dual telephoto cameras unveiled

The Huawei Mate 80 series and the Mate X7 have been officially released in China. In addition to the base and Pro models, the series also includes the Huawei Mate 80 Pro Max and the Mate 80 RS Ultimate Design. Both smartphones feature two telephoto cameras and 6,000 mAh batteries.
Huawei Mate 80 Pro Max
The Huawei Mate 80 Pro Max is similar in design to the Mate 80 Pro, but offers a larger display, a better chipset, a quad-camera setup on the back, and a larger battery. The smartphone features a 6.9-inch dual-layer OLED LTPO display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of up to 8,000 nits.

It is powered by the Kirin 9030 Pro chipset, paired with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. The smartphone runs HarmonyOS 6, which offers some changes to the user interface and AI features.

On the back of the Huawei Mate 80 Pro Max is a quad-camera setup with a 50 MP main sensor featuring a variable aperture and optical image stabilization (OIS), a 40 MP ultra-wide-angle camera, a 50 MP macro telephoto camera with f/2.1 aperture and OIS, and another 50 MP periscope telephoto camera with OIS and 6.2x optical zoom. This is complemented by Huawei’s second-generation Red Maple image processor.
For selfies, the smartphone offers a 13 MP camera and also features 3D depth sensors. The Huawei Mate 80 Pro Max features a 6,000 mAh battery with support for 100W wired charging and 80W wireless charging.
Other specifications include IP68 and IP69 water and dust resistance, dual-band Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 6.0, satellite communication support, NFC, a USB-C 3.1 Gen 1 port, stereo speakers, and an infrared sensor. The smartphone is available in Aurora Blue, Polar Day Gold, Polar Region Silver, and Polar Night Black. It is 8.25 mm thick and weighs 239 g.
Huawei Mate 80 RS Ultimate Design
As the name suggests, the Huawei Mate 80 RS Ultimate Design offers a unique design with a redesigned camera module and a revamped back. Technically, however, it has a lot in common with the Pro Max.

The Huawei Mate 80 RS Ultimate Design, for example, offers the same chipset, display, cameras, battery, and other specifications as the Pro Max model. The only difference is that the smartphone comes standard with 20 GB of RAM.

It features a titanium midframe and a third-generation Kunlun tempered glass display. The Huawei smartphone is still 8.25 mm thick but weighs only 249 g. The Ultimate Design is available in Hibiscus Purple, Deep Black, and Pure White.
