Last year’s Xiaomi 15 series debuted in October with the Xiaomi 15 and the 15 Pro. However, rumors circulated as early as May that the Xiaomi 16 series would be released a month earlier. A new post from Digital Chat Station has now confirmed this theory – the Xiaomi 16 models are scheduled to launch in the second-to-last week of September. More specifically, DCS predicts a launch date between September 24 and 26.

This is no coincidence, as Qualcomm is launching its next flagship 8-series chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Gen Elite 2 (or 8 Elite Gen 5), on September 23. And, like every year, this chip is expected to power the best Xiaomi phones.

Xiaomi 16, 16 Pro mini, and 16 Pro Max

According to the latest rumors, we expect three devices to launch this month, including the Xiaomi 16, the 16 Pro mini, and the 16 Pro Max. The 16 Ultra will join them later sometime next year. The standard model and the Pro mini are expected to have 6.3-inch displays, while the Pro Max will likely reach a diagonal of up to 6.8 inches.

All three models will be equipped with the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite 2. Furthermore, rumors suggest that the standard model will have a 7,000 mAh battery, while the new 16 Pro mini will reportedly have a capacity of 6,300 mAh. According to recent leaks, Xiaomi is also increasing the charging speed to a slightly faster 100 watts. The typical quad-curved display is reportedly no longer on board, but there will be a selfie camera update.
