Apple could skip iPhone 17e

At the beginning of this year, Apple released the iPhone 16e, a cheaper iPhone 16 model that starts at 699 euros in this country and 599 US dollars in the USA. While the 16e effectively replaced the iPhone SE, it is also the first device of its kind, so the release cadence for future models has yet to be determined. In other words, it’s unclear whether Apple will release an iPhone 17e next year.

Apple has only updated the iPhone SE every few years, and a new report suggests that the trend could continue with the new e-model. The Information today presented a long list of iPhone models that Apple plans to release in 2025, 2026 and 2027, including the iPhone 18e in spring 2027. An iPhone 17e is mentioned in the report not mentioned.
From the report:
„The iPhone 18 series will include updated versions of Apple’s thin iPhone Pro and Pro Max, as well as the new foldable device. In spring 2027, Apple plans to release the standard iPhone 18 and a successor to the cheaper iPhone 16e, it said.“
In its last month’s newsletter said Mark Gurman of Bloomberg that Apple has not yet made a final decision on the release of an iPhone 17e.
All in all, an iPhone 17e doesn’t seem that likely at the moment. As usual, – In this early phase, plans can change at any time. At least the appropriate iPhone 17e dummies have already appeared in the rumor mill several times.
