Pokémon Pokopia is already one of the best-selling games for the Switch 2

Pokémon Pokopia is only a week old and is already among the best-selling titles for the Nintendo Switch 2. On Thursday, Nintendo announced that the Pokémon spin-off had sold over 2.2 million copies in its first four days of sale, including one million copies in Japan alone.
Pokémon Pokopia in 4th place
With 2.2 million copies sold, it is the fourth best-selling title on the Switch 2, behind Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition (3.89 million), Donkey Kong Bananza (4.25 million), and Mario Kart World (an incredible 14.03 million). Kirby Air Riders completes the top five with 1.76 million copies sold.

However, there is a caveat: the data for the other games in the top five only covers sales figures up to the end of 2025. Therefore, there is a small probability that Kirby Air Riders, with its 2026 sales figures, will have sold more than Pokopia’s 2.2 million copies. Even if this is the case, a top-five ranking is still a great success for Pokémon Pokopia.
Nintendo Switch 2 owners are also being generously supplied with Nintendo games. Almost every month since its launch, a new title has been released for the Nintendo console. Sometimes these are full-fledged games, like Metroid Prime 4 in December and Mario Tennis Fever in February. In other months, there have been expansions for popular Switch games, such as the Star-Crossed World upgrade for Kirby and the Forgotten Land in August.
Pokémon Pokopia has also fared well compared to other Pokémon titles. As the Pokémon King Joe Merrick on X pointed out on X, Pokopia is one of 13 Pokémon spin-offs to have sold over two million copies. (And there have been quite a few spin-offs in the series’ nine generations so far.)
Physical copies of Pokopia were temporarily sold out, prompting Amazon to temporarily raise the price of the game to $80. It is now available again from all major retailers and currently costs $69.99 on Amazon. Pokopia was also so successful that, according to Bloomberg, Nintendo’s stock recently rose by over 10%.
Players and critics alike are thrilled with Pokémon Pokopia, and it’s one of the highest-rated games on the Switch 2. It achieves a rating of 89 points on OpenCritic as well as on Metacritic.
