Pokémon Winds and Waves were announced on Friday as part of the Presents streams and celebrated the 30th anniversary of the series. In the teaser trailer for the next generation of games, trainers got a first look at the starter trio of the 10th generation: Browt, Pombon, and Gecqua.

As with the flagship releases of each generation, the trio consists of Grass, Fire, and Water-type Pokémon. Browt is a Grass-type bird, Pombon is a Fire-type dog, and Gecqua is a Water-type gecko.

Like Scarlet and Violet from Generation 9, Winds and Waves offers an open world for trainers to explore. You’ll encounter wild Pokémon in volcanic caves, shimmering oceans, and dense jungles. According to the announcement on the news site, the Pokémon, living in harmony with the lush nature of this region, have developed their own unique ecosystems.

On this adventure, you’ll team up with a variety of Pokémon to overcome the challenges of your journey and even the forces of nature that sometimes stand in your way. The reveal trailer for Winds and Waves (see above) also showed two special Pikachu that look like tourists.

Pokémon Winds and Waves are expected to be released exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027. Until then, you can check out the remakes of the first generation FireRed and LeafGreen, which are already available for Switch, or familiarize yourself with the latest title, Legends: Z-A.
