Apple has announced that Tap to Pay on iPhone is now available in Singapore. This allows independent vendors, small businesses, and larger retailers in the country to use their iPhones as contactless payment terminals.

The Tap to Pay feature was launched in the US in February 2022 and allows iPhones to accept payments via Apple Pay, contactless credit and debit cards, and other digital wallets. All transactions are encrypted, and Apple has no information about what was purchased or who made the purchase.

No additional hardware or credit card reader is required for use on the iPhone. The feature uses NFC technology for secure authentication of contactless payments and also supports PIN entry, including various accessibility features.

Tap to Pay launches with Adyen, Fiuu, HitPay, Revolut, Stripe, and Zoho

Tap to Pay will initially support Adyen, Fiuu, HitPay, Revolut, Stripe, and Zoho in Singapore. According to Apple, Grab will also be added starting early next year. A minimum of an Apple iPhone XS is required. The app works for customers just like any regular Apple Pay transaction. Sellers simply need to open the app, register the sale, and show their iPhone to the buyer, who can then use a suitable contactless payment method.

The iPhone feature is now available in 50 countries and regions worldwide. See the Apple website for a list of countries where this feature is available.
