Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra undergoes durability test

A teardown of the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra went online the day before yesterday; now it's time for the scratch, fire, and bend tests.

The day before yesterday, the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra already appeared in a teardown, now the well-known YouTube channel JerryRigEverything is back with its traditional durability test. This shows how scratch-sensitive the glass is, what happens to the display when exposed to direct fire, and of course, whether the Galaxy phone bends.

Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra scratch test

First, he tests the display’s scratch resistance using tools based on the Mohs hardness scale. The results show that the first visible scratches appear at hardness level 6, and deeper grooves develop at level 7. This is typical for modern smartphone displays made of tempered glass. He then examines the frame, buttons, and other external components.

The frame is made of metal, the surface of which can be scratched relatively easily, while the underlying material remains stable. The camera unit is also examined more closely. The camera’s glass covers are relatively resistant, while the metal rings around the cameras are more likely to get cosmetic scratches without affecting the camera’s functionality.

Heat test

In the next step, he performs a heat test, briefly holding a flame to the display of the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra. The display withstands the heat for about 20 seconds before the pixels visibly react, which is typical for OLED displays. In some cases, the display then recovers. Afterward, he checks other components such as the speaker grilles, microphones, and the USB-C port. These areas are protected by small metal mesh grilles designed to prevent dust or foreign objects from easily entering.

He also examines the various materials used in the casing and determines that a combination of metal and plastic is employed. The plastic components are necessary for wireless connections such as mobile communications, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth to function.

Bend test

The highlight of the video is the so-called bend test of the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra. The YouTuber attempts to bend the smartphone with both hands to test its structural stability. This test is particularly well-known because some smartphones have been damaged or even broken during it in the past. In this case, however, it shows that the device is relatively robustly constructed and withstands the pressure without major structural damage.

In the end, the YouTuber concludes that the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is solidly built overall and performs similarly to other modern flagship devices in terms of durability. Minor cosmetic scratches on metal parts are possible, but the display, camera covers, and the device’s structure demonstrate good resistance to typical wear and tear.
