Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra: New teardown video with surprise
The day before yesterday, the first teardown video of the new Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra went online, and today we have another one. Once again, it’s Zack Nelson from the YouTube channel JerryRigEverything who takes the valuable technology apart and comes up with an interesting surprise.
Since the release of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, there has been some excitement about the removal of the Bluetooth functionality of the S Pen. Even though very few people probably didn’t use the feature at all, which Samsung probably knows, which is why it decided to take this obvious cost-cutting measure on its most expensive bar phone. Moreover, many prospective buyers are unlikely to know about the change.
Strangely, however, it looks like Samsung left the inductive charger in the S Pen’s dock. So theoretically, the company could eventually sell a Bluetooth-enabled S Pen separately for the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra if it wanted to. The S Pen from the Galaxy S24 Ultra (with battery) does not fit, however. The S Pen that comes with the S25 Ultra doesn’t have a battery, so it can’t be charged. Although the Samsung smartphone would apparently be able to.

S Pen compatibility issues
- The S24 Ultra’s Bluetooth-enabled S Pen fits into the S25 Ultra’s stylus slot, but doesn’t fully lock into place, preventing it from working.
- The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra lacks the wireless charging coil for the S Pen, meaning older Bluetooth S Pens won’t charge even if they fit.
- However, the presence of an inductive charger above the S Pen dock suggests that Samsung could introduce a Bluetooth-enabled S Pen in the future.
Internal changes and thermal improvements
- Vapor chamber: 40% larger than the previous model for better heat dissipation.
- Thermal interface material (TIM): Helps in efficient heat transfer by eliminating air gaps.
- Battery improvements: Samsung has removed the battery adhesive, making it easier to remove the battery and improving recyclability.
- However, Samsung still only uses 50% recycled cobalt, compared to Apple’s 100% recycled cobalt in iPhones.
Disassembly process
- Camera rings: The rings around the cameras are glued in place and can be removed with a razor blade.
- Wireless charging: Uses a 15W charger, significantly less than OnePlus’ 50W wireless charging.
- The bottom speaker is waterproof (red rubber ring and waterproof mesh).
- The top speaker is also waterproof and has foam balls for improved sound quality.
- 45W USB-C port with red rubber ring for sealing.
- Accidentally inserting a SIM tool into the microphone hole won’t damage the phone as it is protected by waterproof layers.
Camera system
- 50MP ultra-wide angle camera – No optical image stabilization (OIS).
- 200MP main camera – Strong OIS.
- 50MP 5x periscope telephoto camera – Internal OIS (not visible).
- 10MP 3x telephoto camera – External OIS.
- 12MP front camera – glued in place.
Conclusion
- The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra feels like a downgrade from the S24 Ultra.
- Samsung hasn’t made any significant design changes since last year.
- The semi-annual upgrade cycle (instead of annual releases) could lead to more meaningful innovations.
