Test: Samsung Galaxy Buds3 Pro vs Apple AirPods Pro 2

0

Samsung this week unveiled its latest earbuds, the Galaxy Buds3 Pro, which look quite similar to Apple’s AirPods Pro 2. But how do Samsung’s new earbuds fare in a comparison test against the Apple headphones? MacRumors did the test.

Design-wise, you could potentially confuse the Samsung Galaxy Buds3 Pro with the Apple AirPods Pro 2. The Buds3 Pro have the same general shape and a silicone tip. However, the Buds come in both white and gray, while the AirPods have only been available in white for years. The charging case is also similar to the AirPods case, but has a transparent top part.

The Buds3 Pro sound great right out of the box, but there is the option to adjust the sound with the equalizer, which is not possible with the AirPods Pro 2. The Buds3 Pro’s active noise cancellation and ambient mode, or transparency mode, worked just as well in testing as the AirPods Pro. In fact, editors had a hard time spotting any differences between the earbuds.

The Samsung Galaxy Buds3 Pro, however, lost out to the AirPods Pro 2 when it came to detecting ambient noise to adjust the sound. The Apple headphones did better with ambient mode in testing, and holding conversations was no problem.

The Buds3 Pro have a built-in LED light for aesthetics, and there are controls on the stem to adjust the volume. Samsung has also added an interpreter mode for translating foreign languages. However, you need a recent Galaxy smartphone to use this, and the feature still had various translation errors.

Verdict: Samsung Galaxy Buds3 Pro vs Apple AirPods Pro 2

Although the Buds3 Pro are similar to the AirPods Pro 2, you can hardly see the two as competitors. Because in the end, the Buds3 Pro will work best with Android devices and the AirPods Pro 2 will work best in the Apple ecosystem. If you have an iPhone, you should stick with the AirPods, while Samsung users should take a closer look at the Buds3 Pro.

In our Samsung Galaxy Buds3 Pro price comparison, the earphones currently cost 249 euros, while in our Apple AirPods Pro 2 price comparison you can get away with a good 10 euros cheaper. However, the market launch is not until July 24th and after that the prices will fall quickly.
